In a recent announcement, it was revealed that both the G80 and G90 sedans were awarded the Top Safety Pick+ rating by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This accolade underscores Genesis’s unwavering commitment to passenger safety and marks a significant milestone in automotive excellence.

G80 & G90 IIHS Scoring Criteria

The IIHS evaluates vehicles rigorously to identify the safest options within various size categories each year. Notably, the 2024 G80 and G90 have leveled up from their previous Top Safety Pick ranking, showcasing Genesis’s continuous dedication to enhancing safety standards. Awarded to models built after October 2023, the newly-upgraded rear occupant seatbelts also contributed to the Top Safety Pick + score. Models produced before 2023 are still Top Safety Pick vehicles, however, just without the +.

To qualify for the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, vehicles must meet stringent criteria, including earning a “Good” rating in the small overlap front, and side tests, an “Acceptable” or “Good” rating for standard headlights across all trims, and an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for Pedestrian Crash Detection. The G80 and G90 surpassed these benchmarks, reflecting the Genesis brand’s dedication to producing safe vehicles.
